Soloing old raids in BFA
TLDR: Is soloing old raids going to be possible once 8.0 drops?
8.0 is going to have a stat squish, an item level squish, and the loss of our artifact traits and (at 120) our legendarys.
As the stat squish is turning an exponential power curve into a more linear one, even if they squish monsters at the same rate as same level player characters, they will still be MUCH stronger compared to a max level character.
On the BFA alpha I know that it was still possible to solo classic and TBC raids, and WoTLK and Cata raids where still doable, but very challenging and time consuming, while MoP and WoD raids were more or less out of the question.
Will it stay this way when BFA goes live? Will Legion raids ever be soloable?
I can't imagine Blizzard (or their player base) is really ok with this given the huge backlash in 7.3.5 when old raids got a huge spike in difficulty that was quickly hot fixed, but I haven't heard anything about 8.0 and onward one way or the other.

This has always been a problem with scaling and it is always resolved.

Yes, towards the end of BFA with more powerful gear and mechanics that do not require more people.

Yeah, going by what happened last time, I fully expect TONS of bugs and un-squished abilities causing lots of old content to be unsoloable or much harder at 120 than they were at 110, and they will (slowly) fix them all.
I think the devs do realize that soloing old content for cosmetics is a pretty big part of the game for many players, so they won't toss it in the garbage.

We had lots of issues with the Stat squish last time they did it, but it all got fixed eventually. I think last time mobs had too much HP so they nerfed the Hp and slightly reduced player damage. Can't recall for sure, this was almost 2-3yrs ago now.

I suppose just trusting that Blizzard will fix it (eventually) is the most reasonable manner... but if I can't spend the pre-patch farming transmog gear and enjoying the new legacy loot mode I am going to be one disappointed little warrior.

You will be able to do that, but occasionally you'll run up against a boss or even trash mob from 3 expansions back that one-shots you. Think of it as a neat surprise!

Pretty much this. Ion straight up acknowledged that this is a big part of the game for many players in the recent History of Warcraft when Transmog was brought up since it allows them to find their own identity or something to that effect.

They generally wait until the pet achievement meta comes around before fixing content which is mechanically impossible to solo though.
A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon.

What mechanic did they change with pet achievement that was unsoloable before? Those raids are usually really old and has been soloable for years, no? The most recent which comes to mind was Galakras in SoO with the shooting mechanic but upon reflection the changes to SoO came much, much later than 5.4 when pets were introduced and weren't tied to any achievements. There were several changes to make some bosses more solo friendly, like for example: Gorefiend won't port you into stomach and despawn when soloing, blast furnace debuff was nerfed so mc strat isn't mandatory, Immerseus requires less blobs to down, Spine of deathwing rolls with bigger delay when solo and so forth. If timings of these hotfixes was tied to specific pet and transmog achievements, I can't really remember. But of course adding such achievements (like collect old tier sets or set of pets added in x patch) will spark interest for farming that content, so ofc if it's bugged or unsoloable, Blizzard will get a pile of tickets and bug reports and that might motivate them to fix or nerf specific old bosses.
